How Your Own Cannabis collects, uses, shares and protects personal information.

Effective September 19, 2026

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to Your Own Cannabis websites, waitlists, accounts, memberships, community features, advertising inquiries and marketplace tools. Your Own Cannabis is responsible for the personal information under its control.

Information we collect

  • Contact information, including email address.
  • Location information you enter, such as city, province or territory, and approximate network-derived location used to personalize availability.
  • Account, profile, community, marketplace and support information you choose to provide.
  • Membership, order and transaction metadata. Payment-card details are handled by our payment processor and are not intended to be stored by us.
  • Device, browser, security, referral and usage information when needed to operate, protect and improve the service.
  • Consent records, including the wording, date and method of consent.

Why we use it

  • Provide and secure the service, accounts and requested features.
  • Manage launch notifications, memberships, purchases and customer support.
  • Moderate content, prevent fraud and enforce our rules.
  • Measure performance and improve our content and services.
  • Send commercial email only where we have valid consent or another lawful basis, and honour unsubscribe requests.
  • Meet legal, tax, accounting and regulatory obligations.

Consent and choices

We request meaningful consent where required. You may withdraw consent for optional uses at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits. Withdrawing consent may affect features that require the information. Every commercial email will identify the sender and provide an unsubscribe method.

Sharing and service providers

We may share limited information with hosting, database, email, analytics, authentication, fraud-prevention, payment and professional-service providers that help us operate. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a business transaction with appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information.

Cross-border processing

Some service providers may process information outside your province or outside Canada. Information may then be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction. We use contractual and technical safeguards appropriate to the information and service.

Retention and security

We retain information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described, legal requirements, dispute resolution and fraud prevention. We use administrative, technical and organizational safeguards, but no internet system is completely secure.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to or correction of your personal information, ask questions about our practices, or complain about our handling of it. We may need to verify your identity. You may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the applicable provincial commissioner.

Children and age-restricted content

The service is intended only for adults 21 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn that we have done so, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service changes. We will post the revised date and provide additional notice when a material change requires it.
